Oh, Man!

Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
Moses 7:35
Behold, I am God; Man of Holiness is my name; Man of Counsel is my name; and Endless and Eternal is my name, also.

If you were exclaiming, "Oh, Man of Holiness!" or "Oh, Man of Counsel!" then I'd have a problem. By saying, "Oh, man!" it seems to me you're identifying a different subject.

Moses 6:57

"Man of Holiness is his name, and the name of his Only Begotten is the Son of Man"

My understanding was it's only 'in vain' if He's not going to help me.

This, I take it, is wrong.

Sally, stick with 'Oh my heck!'

I think that one's still safe.

If one wanted to take the whole son/man concept even further, one could claim "Oh, brother!" and "Oh, boy!" fall under this commandment as well.

Crap doesn't appear to be a minced oath (profanity warning).

So are you saying "Oh, man!" is a minced oath? Is there historical support?
